New Collaboration between the Institute of Serbian Language and Communications (Belgorod) and STOUH's Russo-Serbian Club

On April 19image, a youth delegation consisting of students from Saint Tikhon's Orthodox University of the Humanities (STOUH) and from institutes of higher education in Moscow and Saint Petersburg visited Belgorod, with the approval of Archpriest Kyrill Sladkov, Head of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church and with support from Archpriest Vladimir Vorobyov, Rector of Saint Tikhon's University.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce enterprising young people to the cutting-edge work of the Institute of Serbian Language and Communications and its types of collaboration with Serbian partners, as well as to Belgrate Shukhov State Technical University, the city of Belgorod, and the Orthodox holy places of the “Holy Land of Belgorod”.

The young people from Russia and Serbia, united by their common interests, Orthodox values, and Slavic culture and language, became good friends over the course of the brief visit. For the STOUH students, it provided additional reasons to study Serbian, whereas their Serbian counterparts were very much inspired by what they saw of this region of Russia.

During the course of these events, an agreement was reached to work together on a number of projects and further develop this partnership. It was agreed preliminarily that a group from STOUH could take part in the Inter-university Rus Zapovednaja Youth Festival; that STOUH's Russo-Serbian Club could help out at the “2019 Serbian Days in the Black Earth Region” festival and forum in Tambov; that delegates from Belgorod could participate in events of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church; and that an exhibition of Serbian icons could be organized in Moscow.
