STOUH Hosts Exhibition of Ethiopian Christian Art

On May 27, 12019, as part of the third annual “Spiritual Springtime: The Road to Easter” festival, an exhibition of artifacts from the material culture of Christian Ethiopia took place at Saint Tikhon's Orthodox University of the Humanities (STOUH). Among the exhibits were over 200 crosses, icons, books, and liturgical objects.

Archpriest Oleg Davydenkov, Dr. theol. habil., Head of the Department of Eastern Christian Philology and the Eastern Churches at STOUH, the collection, which belongs to Andrei Sitnikov and Maxim Paleolog, “is the very best in Russia today: such a collection cannot be found anywhere else, neither in the hands of private collections, nor in Russian national museums”.

The exhibition catalogue, which describes the collection of rare liturgical objects, icons in classical style, crosses, and various examples of contemporary Ethiopian Christian art, was presented at a formal ceremony.
