Annual Conference in Yasnaya Polyana

Every year the Colloquium of the Interdisciplinary Intellectual Club is held at the “Yasnaya Polyana” Leo Tolstoy Museum-Estate.

Among the organizers of the conference is St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University for the Humanities (PSTGU), the Yasnaya Polyana Museum-Estate, the Commission for the Study of the Creative Heritage of Feodor Dostoyevsky, and the Academic Council “History of World Culture” of the Russian Academy of Sciences. PSTGU’s provost for international work, Fr. George Orekhanov, is the chairman for the conference’s organizing committee.

The colloquium traditionally gathers both Orthodox and secular researchers from undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, and professors from Russia, and abroad. All participants share a common theme—the Russian spiritual culture of the 19th century. Among the domestic participants of the colloquium are representatives of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University for the Humanities, as well as faculty, staff, and students of Moscow State University, the Institute for World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Academy of Slavic Culture, and theological academies and seminaries of Russia, and various journals. Foreign researchers come from Kharkov University (Ukraine), Humboldt University in Berlin (Germany), Catholic University in Milan (Italy), the Swiss universities of Bern and Fribourg, and other educational institutions.
